How much will it all cost?

Dog ownership can be expensive and owning a Sheepadoodle is no different.  In fact, owning a Sheepadoodle can be more expensive because of the up front cost of buying a designer mixed breed.  Sheepadoodles are selling for a premium price because they have so many wonderful qualities and are highly sought after.  Typically a Sheepadoodle puppy costs between $1,000.00 - $5,000.00 depending on the breeder.  Once you purchase your puppy, there are many expenses that you'll want to make sure you can cover.  Here's a comprehensive list of items and their average price:

1) Start up expenses (one time costs) $2,500
Purchase price of your Sheepadoodle puppy: $1,800.00
Initial medical exam: $70
First round of vaccinations: $50
Microchip: $45
Crate, collar, leash, ID tags: $120
Spay or neuter: $200 - $400
Outdoor dog house: $100 - $300
Puppy obedience classes (optional): $100+

2) Recurring monthly expenses $60
Food: $30
Toys, treats and bones: $30 - $90

3) Recurring annual expenses $5,655
Veterinary visits (annual exam and vaccinations): $250
Grooming (average cost $80 per groom): $480
Boarding when you're out of town (average $50 per day): $700
Dog walker (depending on your schedule $20 per each 30 minute walk): $4,000
Pet insurance (optional): $225

4) Unexpected emergencies
Car accidents, cancer, surgeries (hopefully never, but start setting some money aside just in case):  $2,000 - $4,000

Owning a Sheepadoodle can be expensive.  But educating yourself and budgeting for those expenses will make your ownership a lot more enjoyable and less stressful.  The love and companionship that your Sheepadoodle can provide you many times out weighs the cost of ownership.  It is something that each individual owner must weigh for themselves.  There are some ways of cutting costs as outlined in Owning a Sheepadoodle and Not Going Broke.
