Goldendoodle VS Sheepadoodle

Doodles are awesome!  One probably can't go wrong on choosing a doodle, although we feel strongly about the Sheepadoodle.  It's helpful to do some comparative research before you make your final decision.  Disclaimer: each dog is different and may not possess every quality pertaining to its breed, but in general the following are characteristics that apply to each breed.
In order to really find out about your potential puppy, we strongly recommend talking with its breeder and finding out the qualities of the puppies' parents.  The puppies' parents will give you the best idea of how your puppy will behave and look.

Physical traits: although they share a "doodle" as a parent they can be different sizes and colors.  The Sheepadoodle is usually larger as its full grown weight is 60-80 lbs and the Goldendoodle is only 50-65 lbs.  The Sheepadoodle can also get a bit taller as their max height is 24" while the Goldendoodle's max height is 23".  And in color the Sheepadoodle is typically a combination of black, white and sometimes gray.  The Goldendoodle can be golden, Irish cream, white, red or black.
Grooming: the Goldendoodle and Sheepadoodle have different coats.  They are both high maintenance coats, but the Goldendoodle will require even more regular brushing to keep mats at bay.  The Goldendoodle will need regular brushing almost every day, while the Sheepadoodle will need a good brushing session every other day or every day.  And both can be professionally groomed as often as needed, but we recommend at least every few months, the Goldendoodle a touch more frequently as it has a combination of Golden Retriever thick long hair combined with the poodle's curly hair.
Intelligence/personality: both breeds make wonderful family dogs because they have great temperaments.  The Goldendoodle will love to run and fetch and the Sheepadoodle will love to run and chase other dogs or small children (supervision is a must until they learn not to nip and herd children).  Both breeds will require quite a bit of exercise to keep them healthy and happy. They are both very smart.  The Goldendoodle will pick up on training a bit quicker and earlier than the Sheepadoodle, but both are sensitive and wanting to please.
Love & affection:  Both doodles are playful and happy go lucky with anyone or any dog around.  The Goldendoodle will be a friend to anyone or any pet that will let them.  The Golden Retriever in them is known for being one of the friendliest and gentlest dogs around.  The Sheepadoodle is a good watch dog to warn when a stranger is approaching, but doesn't act protective or aggressive.  Overall the Sheepadoodle will bark less than most dogs.  The Sheepadoodle and Goldendoodle are both very loving and affectionate of their owners and make amazing family dogs.
